Hook & Ladder Home Inspections website

The Problem

Hook & Ladder had been a Webvana client for more than a decade. Their WordPress site was functional, but the web had moved on. Page load times were slow, security required constant attention, and the site wasn't structured for the way search works today. On mobile, the site scored a 55 on Google's PageSpeed Insights — well below the threshold that affects both user experience and rankings. It was time to rebuild.

What We Did

We moved Hook & Ladder off WordPress entirely and rebuilt the site as a static HTML site — no database, no plugins, no attack surface. The new site is hosted on Cloudflare's global CDN, loads instantly from anywhere, and requires zero ongoing maintenance.

Beyond performance, we rebuilt the site's foundation for AI-era search. That means proper Schema.org markup, entity-first content, semantic HTML structure, and clean internal linking — everything an AI search engine or a Google crawler needs to understand exactly who Hook & Ladder is, what they do, and where they operate.

We eliminated foreign bot traffic that had been inflating analytics and consuming resources on the old WordPress install. Security risks that come standard with WordPress — plugin vulnerabilities, brute force attempts, outdated core files — became non-issues overnight.

The Results

Metric Before After
Mobile Performance 55 97
Largest Contentful Paint 9.5s 2.4s
Accessibility 96 100
SEO Score 100 100
Avg. Search Position 24.4 15.9
Monthly Clicks 101 145

Average search position improved from 24.4 to 15.9 — moving up nearly 9 positions in a competitive local service category. Monthly clicks increased 44%. The site now earns impressions for high-intent queries like "home inspectors San Antonio" and "home inspectors near me" across both service markets.

In Their Words

"Webvana has handled our website and hosting for more than a decade, so when Bryan told us it was time to rebuild for the AI era, we trusted his direction completely. The new site is faster, cleaner, and already delivering results. We're seeing stronger rankings, more inbound traffic, and better-quality leads than before."

The Takeaway

A WordPress site that worked fine in 2015 is a liability in 2026. The rebuild paid for itself in search position gains alone — and Hook & Ladder now has a site that requires no maintenance, costs nothing to host, and is built for the next decade of search.
